About the Event

Originally from Congo (Brazzaville), Reine immigrated to the US with her family on political asylum. Her experience compelled her to study medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC), where she volunteered with the Center for Human Rights, working with physicians to conduct psychological, physical and gynecological evaluations to help victims of violence and detained youth apply for asylum.  After joining the Physician for Human Rights (PHR) Student Advisory Board, Reine contributed to the creation of PHR’s sexual and gender-based violence training module. She has also written about racism in medicine and collaborated with faculty on the Anti-Racism Curriculum Task Force at WCMC to address structural racism in the medical curriculum. Reine aims to build a career advancing global health policies that recognize the rights of migrants and refugees and is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Health in Global Health at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. Reine graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology.
